Andrew’s love of wool stemmed from a young age as he grew up on a wheat & sheep farm in the Wimmera. This love drew Andrew to peruse a diploma in wool & fibre studies at the Melbourne college of textiles. Upon finishing this diploma, some 19 years ago, Andrew commenced his career with Fox & Lillie Rural.
Helping clients gain maximum returns for their wool whilst being involved in their sheep breeding programs have all helped build satisfaction for Andrew in his career. A career he enjoys as it has allowed him to be a part of Fox & Lillie’s growth into one of the largest family owned wool buyer/ exporter businesses in Australia.

After leaving school Andrew commenced working in the Uralla store in 1993, it is here that the progression from storeman to store manager was made. Dealing with a wide range of growers over a large area and learning something new every day makes the job enjoyable. With the pinnacle of Andrew’s wool industry career being; opening a new wool store with Fox & Lillie Rural.
Colin Petersen Store Manager/Buyer/Broker, Hamilton Vic.
Colin left school to become involved in the wool industry-32 years ago. In helping a local wool buyer, both in store and on the road, knowledge of the industry was gained. Due to this grass roots knowledge base and the rapport Colin had developed with the clientele the decision was made to finance him into the local wool buying business, this enabling Colin to have a go on his own prior to commencing work with Fox & Lillie Rural. Following from this, starting and establishing his own business will always be a career highlight.
The challenge of the industry, working with an expert team and no two days ever being the same keep Colin interested.
Daniel Charters Regional Wool Buying Manager, Wagga Wagga NSW.
From starting out as a machine operator for a wool tops manufacturer in Dubbo to private buying in the Wagga area Daniel has spent over 21 years engrossed in all aspects of the wool industry. Joining the Fox & Lillie Rural Team in 2014 has allowed him to meet a wider array of clients and work with a new range of people. It is these people he works with, in addition to the people he buys wool from, which make his job most enjoyable. Leaving the corporate world to work for FLR, an Australian owned family business, is a career highlight for Daniel.
Gary Watts Wool Representative, Wagga Wagga NSW
With 47 years in the wool industry Gary brings a lot to the Fox & Lillie Rural table. Classing in sheds led to working with various wool dealers however 15 years ago starting his own business was a career highlight. Through his working life Gary notes meeting new clients as one of the most enjoyable aspects of the industry, this he has done a lot of since commencing with Fox & Lillie Rural in early 2015.
Gavan Corbett Store Manager, Skipton VIC
Gav has enjoyed the wool industry for 30 years. Being raised on a small farm helped to generate his interest in agriculture. Night school with SMB to attain his wool classing stencil in addition to working as a farm hand for four years gave Gav the experience he needed to gain a position with Fox & Lillie Rural in November 1985.
Being the store manager in Skipton opens up the opportunities to be a buyer, presser, agent, forky, a confidant and even a councillor every now and then. These aspects coupled with meeting and interacting with farmers, running the branch on his own, following up on wool purchases, and working with a wonderful team help Gav to enjoy and appreciate his job.
Hayden Klimpsch Wool Representative, Wagga Wagga NSW
As the youngest member of the Fox & Lillie Rural Team Hayden draws on the experiences he gained growing up on the family farm and his time spent working in shearing sheds around the Riverina to assist with the day to day running of the Wagga store. Meeting new people and getting to work with experience staff help Hayden enjoy his position in the FLR crew.
Jeff Angel Regional Auction Manager, Wagga Wagga NSW
From starting out as a trainee wool buyer in 1998 at the Yennora wool selling centre to becoming a district wool manager and then a regional auction manager for Fox & Lillie Rural Jeff has experience many highlights within his 18 years in the industry. Working with the clients & meeting new people, sheep classing & ram selection plus having a daily laugh with his work colleagues helps Jeff enjoy his job. A career highlight for Jeff was being able to move back to the bush after 8 years in the Sydney auction room- a place he loved but home is home.
Jenni Turner Branch Manager & Wool Marketing Representative, Culcairn NSW
For 18 years Jenni has been handling, classing, training, farming and private buying wool around NSW. Jenni finds joy in her position as it allows her to live and work in the bush alongside country people whilst also being able to make a positive contribution to the community in which she lives. Her role with Fox & Lillie Rural has afforded Jenni the privilege of being involved in the establishment of a branch from the ground up with guidance and support from some of the best in the business.
John Harrison Wool Representative, Benalla Vic.
John has been in the wool industry all his life. Including being a classer and farmer for the entirety of his adult life. Being a successful merino breeder on his own property aids John in his wool and sheep work with Fox & Lillie Rural, of which he has been an employee for 15 years. Being awarded flock of the year in 1993 in addition to achieving a record high price, at the time, for shedded wool are two highlight of which John is most proud.
Peter Dow Regional Manager, Mildura NSW
Peter has a wealth of experience given his 34 years in the wool industry. This time being comprised of five years with Wesfarmers Dalgety, 11 years with various other brokers, five years with his own wool buying business, and 13 years’ service to Fox & Lillie Rural.
Travelling outback NSW, meeting the people and getting the job right for them (hopefully) is what gets this manager out of bed in the morning. With setting up and opening the Mildura store, coupled with a love of the whole wool industry as two career highlights it is easy to see that Pete has found his niche in life.
Stephen Fleming South Australian Wool Representative, Adelaide SA
Stephen ‘Flemo’ Fleming has been in the wool industry for 31 years. His extensive career started with Bennett’s Farmers in 1984. Following from here Steve worked in the Adelaide wool store and sales as an auctioneer. With this experience under his belt becoming Adelaide’s wool technical manager was a career highlight as the apprenticeship to gain this title was a long one. This role was enjoyed for 14 years until joining the Fox & Lillie Rural team.
Developing and building client relationships, achieving goals for both stakeholders, and the freedom to make his own business decisions are some of the reasons Stephen enjoys going to work.
Steve Baile Wool Representative, Wagga Wagga NSW.
Steve has been in the wool industry for “many” years. In these years he has spent time as a merino stud manager and a wool representative. It is the wool itself that has kept Steve interested in the industry for so long-enjoying the natural fibre and its production. Becoming a member of the Fox & Lillie Rural team has been a highlight for Steve in recent years.
